NRPA Volunteer Opportunities

🧒 Environmental Education

  • Watershed Education Assistant – Help lead hands-on lessons with students in the Watershed Initiative program.

  • Classroom Support Volunteer – Prepare teaching materials and assist educators during school programs.

  • Field Trip Guide – Supervise student field experiences at local parks and river sites.

💧 Citizen Science & Water Quality

  • Water Quality Monitor – Collect and test river and creek samples for bacteria and dissolved oxygen.

  • Data Entry & Lab Support – Enter results and help manage monitoring data for reporting.

  • Oyster Restoration Volunteer – Build and deploy oyster reef cages; monitor growth and survival rates.

🌸 Habitat & Stewardship

  • Native Plant Garden Caretaker – Maintain gardens at Sleepy Hole Park and other NRPA sites.

  • Habitat Restoration Volunteer – Assist with shoreline planting, invasive species removal, and buffer zone projects.

  • Seed Collection & Propagation Volunteer – Gather native seeds and help grow plants for restoration sites.

📣 Community Outreach & Events

  • Event Ambassador – Represent NRPA at community events, RiverFest, and local fairs.

  • Membership & Fundraising Assistant – Help distribute membership materials and engage new supporters.

  • Photography & Media Volunteer – Capture photos and videos of NRPA programs and restoration work.

🗂️ Organizational Support

  • Office & Administrative Assistant – Help with mailings, filing, and membership communications.

  • Grant & Research Assistant – Support research and documentation for grant proposals.
